I can vouch for both options on this thread. Your mileage and opinion may vary based on personal experiences.

My 06 Tahoe LS 4.8L had a personal Black Bear tune with Justin in Orlando about 2 years ago. See my full write up on my build thread link below to save space. I have no complaints and have been very happy with the results. This truck is not my DD, but only I drive it and especially love the shift points. Notably 1st to 2nd is tighter as well the longer hold in the RPMs.

My 13 Suburban only has the Range Technology AFM Disabler Device. See a short write up below in that build thread, links and pictures as well to save space.

This truck is my wife's DD and our road tripping truck. She will never notice the difference with the device plugged in, but I have. That shuttering when I mash the pedal is gone and the DIC says it is in V8 mode 100% of the time. My Suburban currently as of this post has 17700 miles on the clock.

I would love to get this long body BB tuned as well, but I don't see the reason to customize it that much for my wife, who drives much more conservatively than me and won't benefit from the personalized BB tune in her daily travels. That is why I only went with the Range device. If I can keep it in V8 mode, tune out the V4 from plugging in the Range device and maybe prevent a lifter problem down the track, then that is $200 well spent IMHO.
