intermittent high-pitched whine, varies w/engine speed: PS pump?

I have the same problem in my 4 runner- to the letter. She was bone dry too! I dont know where the leak is because the driveway is clean.

IIRC that has a rack and pinion yeah?

2 things:

1. Those skid plates can hold a fair bit of oil. If you've not been under the vehicle yourself, I think it would be worth your time

2. Once in a blue moon, a steering rack will develop a leak into the boots. Boots proceed to hold several pints worth of oil, making you think you're loosing your mind since there's no visible leak
