Heads up on radiators. Some aftermarket radiators include an unused port under the cap that GM did not use on 96-99 trucks:

I think the port was used on some of the earlier (88-94?) trucks. As the radiator is meant to be “universal” and fit those trucks, many companies put a rubber cap and hose clamp over it. Often, these are low quality vacuum style caps that degrade in a few months and leak or fall apart.

Here’s one:

While you can replace the caps with a silicone cap that is more resistant to heat, the better option is to find one that either doesn’t have the port at all (GM still sells them)…

…or has a threaded plug instead
