I spin it on with my hand, then give it about two strokes with a filter wrench(about another half turn) and it's good. Never had one leak. Never had to fight to get on off either.

Maybe I just need a different filter wrench then (have about 5 types currently) because that filter location is too close to the oil pan for any of mine to do an adequate job :shrug:

What I use is free two year Scheduled maintenance at my dealer. Works awesome.

Get one of these I got mine from advance they have them in the isle. Find the filter you want to stick with them marry it up with the socket. They have them loose in a display in the isle get one that fits good and done. You can even torque it on if you have ocd. Pop that bad boy on a socket extension and done. Like 6 bucks.

I have one of those and they don't fit between the filter and the oil pan where the filter tucks up in to :shrug:

It's only like a 1/8 a inch wider than the filter. How is that possible?

Ok I think my mom is running into this issue now. 07 Tahoe 118k. I changed her oil two weeks ago(pennzoil high mileage/wix)and she just told me that her oil pressure is reading 0. CEL is on(haven't scanned yet). No oil light or message.
