HID ballast noise

I am having installed a complete new sound system in my truck these days. The dealer/installer says the HID ballasts are making noise.
Is this right?
Are there any other types of ballast that are better/making less or no sound?

Is it so loud that you can hear it when you're in the truck?

I have heard kits that make some noise, its not that loud. The kit on my quad make a little noise. Make sure they arent mounting them on anything metal just zip tie the ballast somewhere.
