so im in the planning stage of e fans.. and i have it figured out sorta. want to run the mark VIII since they fit in stock shroud? and since they are 2 spd run the volvo relays for em. i want to have a switch i think with 3 positions. down being off middle being the high and top being low speed. then i think it would be kinda cool to have 2 leds above the switch. they would be 2 functions blue for good and light up red when theres a problem in the system. would that be possible? would be a nice way to monitor the status of the fans. anyone see any flaws in my plannin? still not quiet sure on how id wire the led indicators may need to try and read more about that

been looking and cant find the on, on, off switch like the ones ive got in the console. i guess next best bet would be just on, off, on with labels for each

Yeah most double/doubles are on-off-on ... The one I have has lights built into the switch, green and red.

I was thinking about doing the same thing that you are wanting to do... I just bought the Flex-a-lite 280 system off amazon and saved 150$ or something like that... Bought them about 8 months ago. the new fans work wonderful. keep the truck right at 194 with a 195 t-stat. Was gunna do the cheap alternative with the mark fans. Honestly i didnt want to deal with making my own relays and stuff... Love the 280's!

I have a Mark 8 still in the box ready to ship if needed...
Mark 8 fans are great go into the stock shroug with very little modification! I have seen a few F/I apps with Mark 8 fan keeping things cool!

Back to a switch, not a fan of that. What happens if you forget to turn the fan off? Why not just wire it to work automatically.

I think Mark 8 is the best bang for ya buck mod upgrade!
