First thing I would do if you buy it is disable it.

Don't buy one works the best.

This is the best answer though. I like the pre 2007 classic 5.3., bulletproof.

4.8L v8 doesn't have AFM

I just bought a 2007 Tahoe with a tick in the engine. Got it for a good price. Rest of the truck was pretty darn good except for that. Rebuilt the top end with all new lifters and pushrods (bent a pushrod on #4 intake IIRC). Cam was still in good shape. Replaced injectors as well. Runs like new now and have installed one of the OBD2 dongles that stop the AFM from working. Runs beautiful now.
