Hello Everyone

I'm new to this forum. I bought a 2004 Yukon SLT from a friend for a great price. This truck has a ton of little issues. Some are more annoying than others. I Could use a little help with truck and I am open to suggestions. Build sheet is attached to the bottom the page.

(1) the driver side has a puddle light and a blinker in the mirror, the passenger doesn't even have a wire harness in the door for the mirror. I can't find the harness inside the vehicle for the passenger side mirror.

(2) the trailer 7 pin connector has a short some where

(3) small rust hole through out the body, I'm open to suggestions for a paint and body guy within 3 to 4 hours from Southern Maryland.

(4) is possible to get an after market stereo system that will allow me to keep my rear seat entertainment system?

(5) the alarm works but the horn fails when I push on it.

(6) CD stuck in disk changer

(7) the spare tire was so rust to the truck I had to cut it down

(8) cruise control dose not work

(9) I am looking for suggestion for shock, the current shocks are worn out.

Your outside passenger side mirror might've gotten replaced at some point. The harness for the turn signal and puddle light is attached to the mirror and plugs into the piece that holds the power window switch.

Thank you. I will look at this week and let you know how it turns out.

(2) Not sure what your symptom is for the "short" but after fighting with my trailer lights for some time I realized the trailer plug is not connected directly to the wires running to the back. It is a split connector and I replaced the portion that is bolted to the frame and all was well.

(7) the spare tire was so rust to the truck I had to cut it down
This is common. I replaced the fuel tank and pump last year and had to cut the spare tire out. I believe some people mount them inside but you give up a rear seat. You could put a swing out internally. If I were planning on keeping my truck long enough I would put a bumper on with a swing out tire mount like I did on my last truck.
I have seen new winch replacements for the $130 range.

Tried to insert an image of my Tahoe with the Kennesaw Mountain bumper but had a problem. Not sure they are in business anymore.

Thank you for the help. I tried to pull the cable hoping there was a split conection somewhere along the frame but i didnt see one. I will send you some photos of the under side of my truck.

On the stock unit the connector with wires plugs right into the back of the trailer connector housing. The replacement I purchased had wires coming out of back of the trailer connector housing to the mating connector. Take a look at etrailer.com, that's where I get all my trailerin' stuff. They have a nice picture. If I recall the connector lock is on top (you know to make it easier to reach .

I email the guys at etrailers and they replied with this

Answer:
Check to see if there is voltage on the red wire of the controller when the brakes are applied. It sounds like that is the root of your problem. Typically when this issue arises on a GM vehicle like yours the issue is a blown third brake light fuse which is associated with the brake controller stoplight switch wiring.

Easy way to check that is to see if the third brake light of the Yukon comes on when the brakes are applied. If not then the issue is the CHSML fuse being blown.

It was the fix to the problem. Now the only problem I notice is my right blinker isn't working on the trailer connection and after replacing the fuse my third brake light is still out, I never noticed that it was out.

I'm happy the trailer brake works again. Thanks for the help.
