And truck is fine besides this noise/msg? No codes or cel? It drives fine, no loss of power? has the transfer case or front differential ever been serviced? (Fluid changed). If it is saying traction active and you hear noise down by the front right of truck either your front diff is low on fluid or the drivers hub is bad. Its prob the hub.

Had the truck in auto today had the same noise but Traction Active did not come on. The noise is down by the Steering column I think it’s some kind of motor not a Diff noise or transfer case noise

Not sure if this is an issue with the 2006 but my 2000 had a similar problem when braking under 5MPH the ABS would come on. Its because the ABS sensor in the wheel hub gets pushed out of it's bore hole because of rust. You just take the sensor out of the wheel hub, stick a piece of paper towel down the hole and wire brush the rust off the face of the wheel hub where the sensor fits on. Put some anti-seize on it and then put it back. It brings the sensor back to its original position which is close enough to the timing wheel in the hub to read wheel rotation and your ABS should work properly.

Again, I'm not sure if this is a problem with the 2006, but its something you can use to check if you are out of ideas.

It could be a Steering Position Sensor if so.

Driver side hub is bad. You here a slight whine when driving?
I am also having the traction active problem and I am getting whining gurgling sound when leaving stop sign. And I do believe my hub is bad. I think you are right just haven't had the time to mess with it.
