will the oil fill cap go directly into the valvecover without the tube?

if not, holley makes a slim oil fill cap - that does, i cant remember if it has 1 tab or two tabs tho. whatever my stock oil fill cap was i needed the other

I am not sure @NoReverseYukon says it does, I have not tried it. I will have to remove the cover again to try it for myself. if it does and feels secure I will just use the cap and **** the filler neck. Or JB weld like others here mentioned.

No I tried a ****** Dorman part and then this GM one: 609729947

GMpartsstore.com lists a different part number than the one you got. They list 12574386. At $42 "on sale" before shipping, I think JB Weld is looking better and better, or as George B suggested, a visit to the local pick and pull yard.

Does your tube "tilt" up and out like I am or does it stay tight and flush to the cover?

In post #6 the GM part #'s are there with pricing and availability from RA.

Something is really goofy, as the picture for the GM part is the same slot and ramp orientation as the new one he has and should go on, neck facing down and a 180 degree twist to lock in in place. Strange.

never had any issues with it.
i dont use the tube anymore but im thinking mine had 2 tabs and the oil fill cap only had one tab, thus i couldnt put it directly into the valve cover.
