So I got behind an 00-04 Z71 Suburban the other day and noticed that it had some type of plastic visor at the top of the rear window. It looked factory since the black plastic matched everything else and it went around the 3rd brake light well. I kind of liked the look but I really only saw it for a moment. Has anyone else seen this before?

That's close but not the same as what I saw. The one I saw appeared to match the same plastic type of the Z71 roof rack. It was also flatter and seemed to cover a little more of the rear window.

That's the only thing I know that is factory. Possibly something aftermarket?

It may have been. I have been searching online for it and so far I can't find it. I know when I saw it I was thinking that it had to be factory.

I really don't think that was it. Especially since I think it would look out of place on a z71 with the different rear window.

Definitely not. It must have been what the others suggested at the beginning of this thread. I have since seen a different Z71 with it. Cant decide how much I like it. Not worth it to me to change out the rear glass for the newer style though.

@03z71chevy , swapping out the glass isn't too terrible. I hate non painted plastic. I think it looks terrible. I'm swapping my plastic piece on my rear hatch for the esky third brake light. Half way into the project I realized the esky light doesn't match up to the shape of my yukon glass. So picked up a hatch off an esky and it's the older style with the rubber trim around the edge with the low profile handle. Its not terribly hard to swap the hatch out. I just haven't had time to do it and have an extra set of hands to help hold the hatch up when I disassemble bolts and such.

I'll keep that in mind. My Z71 already has a ton of unpainted plastic on the bumpers, fender flairs and roof rack so the rear glass kind of fits in. The newer style glass does look cleaner. Maybe if I can find it for a good deal.

Well mine will be sitting here once the swap happens lol. If you weren't all the way across the country I'd offer to sell it to you for cheap as I want it gone. But shipping would be super expensive lol.

Same issue I dealt with while looking for the esky hatch I picked up. I happened to kick out and I found a wrecking yard that has one that was in my way home from LAX when I had to take a family friend to the airport. And gas was cheap as we took his little gas saver Nissan lol. If you want to make the swap try junkyards or wrecking yards. You will get the hatch for cheap.

Did it look like this? I wonder if it was swapped/modified from a newer vehicle.
