WTF?!? Power wire for an amp should never be run from the alternator, especially because the cable from the the batt to the alt is usually not any larger than 6 or 8 ga in most cases. Plus the battery will smooth out any ripple from the alt current.

I used lamp wire for a stereo ground in my old bonneville, did the trick there, but damn, just do stuff right and you wont have problems down the road!! must have been some lazy installers

I've seen people use lamp wire...seriously...LOL

Yah, I've seen that one as well. I love the ones that run their power wire for the amp around the hinge pillar instead of going through the firewall. Some people are so lazy.

You guys wouldnt believe some of the crap I've seen in my 17+ yrs in this field. A 6x9 behind the front grille, double din just laying behind the opening of a single din dash, speakers just laying on the seats, sub enclosure made from a kitchen cabinet with the door nailed shut and a hole cut in it for the sub, wires ran over the cowl and through a chipped corner of the windshield. Man, the list goes on and on....

best lines I've heard..

Me "you'll need 1.75 cu ft of airspace to make that woofer work properly"
Customer : " how do i get air in the box?"
--------------------------------------------------------

Me: "would you like a 2 ohm or 4 ohm?"
Customer: " no man, just one...."
