Who is running 265 or 285 on a 9inch wide wheel?

Here are 285/70/17 on stock wheels....

heres some tire schoolin for those who dont know for those that do then heres a review

so in metric tire sizes there are 3 sets of numbers much like the floation tire sizes.
take a very common metric size like LT265/75R/16 load range E
LT = Light truck = meaning 6 ply tire load rating or greater
= if "P" like P265/75R/16 then its a 4 ply load range
= if no letter like 265/75R/16 then its a 4 ply load range

265 = section width in cm

75 = side wall hight (based on percentage of section width)
Meaning the side wall in this case is 75% the secton width
so 265 x 0.75 = 198.75cm tall

R = radial tire

16 = is like we all know the wheel size in inches.

so wats this mean. ok so take a 285/75R/16 for starts compaired to ...

- a 285/75R/17 is goin to be 1" taller over all since the side wall and section
are the same only the wheel size changed

- a 305/75R/16 is goin to be taller and wider since 305 is a wider section
width and 75% of 305 is greater than 75% of 285

- a 285/70R/16 is going to be just as wide but shorter since the section
width stayed but 70% of 285 is less than 75% of 285


so now that you have a basic under standing of how the sizes work and wat the numbers mean you can now play the guess and check game. Toyo Tires has all over all sizing listed on all tires and sizes they offer so one thing you can do is look up ur stock size and look at the sizes that are close to that in over all sizes
