Hi there, I'm looking to purchase a 1998 Tahoe from a private seller. Seller claims the vehicle comes with a 6" Rancho lift kit. The Rancho lift manufacturer claims they only made a 2.5" and 4" kit for that model. I'm not sure who to believe (seller doesn't have the receipt). Short story long, I'm looking for a vertical measurement of a stock Tahoe from the center axis of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel well. to establish a baseline height from which I can determine actual lift height. I'd greatly appreciate if anyone with this model Tahoe would provide that measurement. if kind enough to do so, please measure twice. Many Thanks!!! Sincerely, Andrew

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please. If we can't see it, it does not exist.

I cannot personally assist you with your issue, but other members of this Forum much more knowledgeable than me in this area will chime in.

I will say, however, from reading lift-related threads on this Forum, that just because you purchase, say, a 4" lift package, the actual lift of the truck is not 4", but significantly less. So, I'm not sure that receiving an actual stock measurement from the center axis of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel well is going to give you something substantive enough to determine what lift package is actually on that truck. In addition, if the original springs are still on that truck, or on a truck that a member here replies to your question, those old springs will have sagged through long usage, and again that will muddy up the actual measurements and the validation that you are looking for.

Lets see what members with lifts have to say.

Thank you for the advice! If I get this guy, I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions in the coming years.
The owner has re-done virtually everything on the suspension (and then some). Hopefully these images help for context!
