What rpm's does your 5.3l turn? I think my converter forgets to lock up.

At 70mph, I am turning 2100rpms this just seems high to me. Even at 60mphs, its turning 2000rpms almost like its not in 4th gear even though it is. Whats the correct rpms for 60mphs? I thought it might be related to the cold and the converter not locking up properly but no matter how warm the truck gets, it still seems to rev too high. This shit is killing my gas mileage too! I can barely muster 310 miles on a full tank!

Just Wednesday I was cruising at around 70 or 71 and turnin in the neighborhood of 2000 RPM's. So if yours is messed up, mine is too! (My I6 Grand Cherokee would got 67MPH @ 2000 RPM's, just to give another reference, even if it's a different make.)

It all depends what rear end gears you have. Mine has 373's, and at 80mph its about 2300 to 2400. Im almost positive your's has 373's. Does it have a tow package?

Maybe it is normal but I could have sworn it would turn a lower rpm at the same speed. Mine does have 3.73's and a factory tow package too but just seems to be a bit louder than usual plus the mileage has sucked lately. Cant really compare the Jeep though, I have a GC also and its about the same but the I6 only revs to like 4500 rpms anyway so hard to compare them to the 5.3.

Hmmm, I have the 3.73 rear with tow package, 02 yuk 5.3 4x4. At 60 mph, I'm at 1750 rpm. That's cruising on flat road so it's not kicking down for sure. Maybe you were going up hill? still accelerating?

highway speeds for me is about 2k rpm
70-80mph

the reason I know is because my alts peak amperage is 2k rpm and my voltage barely drops when I'm slamming

get a blackbear tune though..
daily driving for me I'll get up to 50 and it will be about 2k rpm then let off the gas for a quick second and it drops to 1500.. WAY better for gas mileage!
