I have a 2013 PPV Tahoe and it is not equipped for towing . My question is will it harm the Tahoe if I set it up for towing by putting a receiver hitch on it and tow a single axle enclosed trailer in town on rare occasions?
One of the official answers from Chevy is that it is set up for cornering and pursuit driving and has not been tested for towing. They can't or will not tell me if it will harm the suspension, computer, or transmission. I know it has been tweaked for pursuit driving but I have a hard time believing that there is that much difference to keep it from doing light towing.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Without it I guess I will just have to try it and find out first hand if there are any bad consequences.

Welcome to TYF.

A Tahoe is a Tahoe my friend. Your line of thinking is correct - just because they have the PPV sitting a little lower for pursuit work doesn't mean it can't handle towing. Put a proper receiver hitch on it and have at it. Keep an eye on the trans temp (just as you would with any other vehicle you're towing with) and you should be fine.

Since you mentioned it's a PPV, I'm assuming it's the lowered 2wd model and not the 4x4 SSV, correct?

Yes it is a PPV

Thanks and yes it is a PPV 2wd....I was going to get a receiver type setup from a wrecked Tahoe from the bone yard and I am guessing it will almost be a plug and play using the wrecked Tahoe's wiring for the receiver hitch.

Yep, plug and play. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the wiring is already present for it on your Tahoe, many of them have the provisions there even if the receiver isn't installed.

Not really!

Tahoe PPV has no hitch, the rear bump and cross member do not set up for towing hitch setup.

You need remove rear bump, it is PIA, also you need cut a rectangular opening for hitch receiver.

Currently there is no one makes after-market hitch for 2007-up Tahoe. It is another challenging.

Please post back when you get the job done.

It should be plug and play

You lost me on this reply....you refer to a pump?, PIA?
The rear bumper cover has the same hole in it as a regular Tahoe just has a straight steel bumper instead of the receiver bumper you see on regular Tahoes.

I will post some pictures.
