Put a tinted license plate cover on 4 months ago, no problem. As long as the plate is visible, it doesn't matter what you put over it.

Really? Please enlighten me. I don't want to provide misleading information. This is what the salesman at Advanced Auto told me (probably lying just to sell it).

Sounds like a hellava salesman.

Anything that blocks the license plate or lack of lights is illegal.

Had one on my Mustang Cobra back in the day. Had a cop in the parking lot I was parked in wait until I pulled out of the lot to pull out behind me and pull me right over, just for the tinted plate cover. This was in PA. I haven't bothered to use one since.

I think fire730 already answered it for me.

Just as a side note... I don't think I would trust the legal advice of a salesman at Advanced Auto Parts.

I get pissed when I see people with one...I'm not sure why really, but it bugs me.

I myself would NEVER have one because you are just asking for trouble...these people put them on to help prevent cameras from getting their license plates, right? But then you also give cops a reason to pull you over, and I would be paranoid after a beer or two at dinner or when at a buddies house.

They will definitely pull you over here, it's illegal and obstruction of identification. People put them on assuming they can blow through traffic cams and their tag won't get recorded, wrong, still reads it just fine. Same with that spray they offer.
