So back in the winter a very cold -20C morning started the truck using the remote start. Go out to vehicle and restart vehicle with the key. Go to drive away and I get the traction warning and the engine power reduced message. 1000 rpm max power so I back up back into my driveway and shut the vehicle down. Go out to the truck 30 minutes later and fire the engine, all is normal and drive away. Weeks later on very cold minus -20C day I am on the 403 in Hamilton going 120 km/h in the passing lane when I feel a thud in the driveline, look down at tach, and shit only 1000 rpm. reduced power message. I was very lucky and was able to exit the highway right away. Pull into a parking lot turn off engine and restart and all is normal except I now have engine light on. Now this has been diagnosed as a throttle body issue by my mechanic. Back during the cold weather he replaced these on 4 other full size GM SUV/pickups. So he turned the engine light off and it has not yet come back on. The part costs $450 plus HST (13%) and of course labour and HST on that also. An expensive repair. Does anyone know of any other option than a complete replacement or non GM part?

You should be able to pick up a new throttle body for around a couple hundred bucks or less. They are pretty easy to change out your self if you feel inclined to DIY
