Hey,
I have a Tahoe with a 6" NTD Rough Country lift. I know my torsion keys are very close to stock height but am I going to run into any issues (such as the control arms binding, the RC shocks overextending, etc) if I reindex the keys and add 1.5" coil spacers?
I'm looking to clear the new set of 315/70/17 tires without rubbing on full turn/bumps. I have trimmed as much as I can without it looking goofy and the truck currently sits level.

Well I ended up ordering 1.5" coil spacers. I'll see how the truck clears 315/70/17s at 7.5" of lift.

If you don't go more than 1.5" you should be OK. They sell shock extenders or relocaters to move the shock up a couple inches. Either that or get longer shocks but you shouldnt run into problems with everyday driving. Off road is where you will notice the shocks bottoming out if too short for your setup. Truck looks boss.

Excellent. They are Rough Country shocks designed for the 6" lift... I did this lift a few years ago and don't remember if they had shock extensions or not but I can fabricate and weld if I have to.

My big concern is how the rear axle doesn't sit center in the wheel wells since the rear pivots on the control arms (the longer the coil springs the more the rear walks toward the cab).

I was 12 when this body style came out. I remember always wanting two vehicles as a kid... A black Pontiac WS6 Trans Am and a lifted black Z71 Tahoe! I built this truck and ended up giving it to my wife before I ever got to drive it lol!

Thanks.

So I finally got around to doing the spacers and reindexing the keys.
Truck now sits at 44.25" to the wheel well on fresh 315/70/17s. Its now at that awkward height that I have to hop to get into the truck lol...

I can get away without extending the brake line (if I do anything I'll extend the Rough Country extension bracket another 1"). I'm ordering and adjustable panhard bar because the axle definitely sits a hair to the left now.

The portion of gray plastic between the door and fender is trimmed "hollow" so it allows for clearance but still physically looks stock. I do get the slightest bit of rubbing still at full turn between the rear portion of the front inner wheel well/fender area.

Looks pretty good! Definitely looks like you could use the sphon rear kit to re-center the axle in the center of the wheel well

It definitely could. I'm not worried about rear positioning forward and backward (although spohn's adjustable control arms would fix this). My concern is the rear physically sits further to the driver's side due to the geometry of the panhard bar changing.

Looks damn good man! Here’s a few of my rig with 35’s on 6in before I went with a bigger set up.

Truck looked awesome at 6".. I see it's a real monster now! Probably the biggest one in this body style I can think of.

I'd love to do a solid axle and lift the truck even higher (I am not a big body lift fan because GM trucks already show enough frame). However, this truck is my wife's daily driver and we have a 3 month old son she has to get in and out of the backseat. I'd love to buy a 2010+ Tahoe but it isn't an option right now, I'm trying to buy a bigger house and keep my current house as a rental.

Yes! I’d love to throw a solid axle on and go bigger. But this is my daily driver and I also am married with kids... so the struggle is real.

I’m more found of the nbs body style than the new ones. Idk just my style I guess, granted I like the interior of the the newer a lot more.

Just curious how is the ride quality with the 6" Rough Country kit? for now I'm going for keys and spacers with Bilsteins but was going to upgrade to the RC kit next year, however I hadn't heard good things about the shocks they supply.

I hate to say it but the RC Shocks are garbage. Get a good extended set to throw on with the lift, my hoe rides as smooth as the day I bought her.

Is there another kit that is sold where you could choose your own shocks? Or one that just comes with better ones? Not terribly familiar with Tahoe stuff so far having come from owning a Mustang.

You can call RC and ask if they would take the shocks off the kit price. They do have some kickass customer service, I can definitely vouch for that!
