Dirty connections at the battery can seem like a dead battery and cause one hell of a time. Also, how old is your starter?

It's your starter relay. just get a new relay, but wait til the car fails to start, then pop in the relay to verify that was the issue.

Most likely a bad starter.

Next time it wont start and just clicks once, have someone sit in the car and hold the key in the crank position while you get under the truck and tap on the starter with a hammer (TAP not POUND lol). If you tap it once or a few times and it cranks, your starter is about done.

This is assuming the "click" is more of a "clack" and coming from under the front of the car rather than a soft "click" from the fuse box under the hood.

Connections are clean, never changed the starter since owning her going on for 8 years now. Bought her pre owned at the dealer doubt previous owner changed it.

Sounds more like a soft click from the fuse box to me. That's where I've managed to hear it from. Didn't know my starter was under the truck. Where exactly is it?

Passenger side of the engine where it mates with the transmission.

Make sure your ground is good. My truck did same thing because the ground was loose some how.

Carry a small hammer with you if you're still driving this with the same starter. LOL

Just sayin....

One loud "clack/click" and then nothing is the starter seizing up. If you try it enough times it may free up and start. If the relay was the issue you would not even hear the "loud click/clack then nothing" symptom. Your starter is near dead and no tapping on it will fix it if it's bad enough or just decides to "give up the ghost" (smoke) due to being seized and super high amps burning it up. I hate being stranded at the least opportune times. :)
