Smoked fogs for 03 XL

Question for the group, I found a set of smoked fog lights on ebay for my 03 xl. I am getting ready to do HID's in my fogs, already have them in the low beams, wanted to know if I got the smoked fogs, would they drastically reduce the performance of the HID's if I get the smoked, also does anyone have them on their truck, would like to see what they look like. Also found a pair of smoked leds bumper lights as well.

Please do everybody a favor and do not put HID's in a halogen housing...

Terry, you're starting to sound like me!

But he's talking about Fog Lights, not headlights. I think everyone here has HID's in their fogs, self included. They're low enough and set back enough in the bumper that the glare is forgivable.

To answer your question, if you're going to go HID, don't go smoked. When you put sunglasses on, it cuts the light to your eyes right? Same theory here.

My thoughts too, now to Terry's complaint, yes I am running stock housing in my low beam HId's, please recommend a good projector thats not going to fog, leak or have to modify to get it to fit right.

IMHO unless you use OEM quality, which means price, MOST are outsourced , uh, mediocre. (crap)
I am running stock as well, have not been flashed once.

I have yet to find projectors for our fog lights.

For the record, I have a set of fog projectors on my Grand. Quite frankly, they suck. The stocks were MUCH better. The projectors there use an H3, which isn't the worst part. The cutoff of projectors makes them virtually useless unless you want to see crap 10 feet in front of you and that's it.

if you're not willing to do a little work, keep it stock, or use silverstars or something that's actually made for the housings.

Okay, I just reread this thread. You started asking about fog lights, then switched to asking about low beams. No wonder I'm confused as all get out.

Read it again, the only person that started talking about low beams was you, I only mentioned that I already had them installed on my truck. Then for some unknown reason you went into this mad rage about using the correct housing..........

Bozemafl, I'd like to see how your fog lights turn out either way! Im getting my HID lows and fogs soon too... what brand did you use for your lows and how much were they? and same question for your fogs? what temperature are they also?


As for headlight house/projectors...just get some used stock/OEM Denali headlights...projector cut-off is EXCELLENT! Also, its an easy adjustment if you might want to aim them a little higher

Actually, you should read it again before you start pointing fingers. T3rry brought up low beams, you asked about smoked fogs and I gave you a straight answer about smoked fogs. A tangent was taken, which you did indulge in:

To that I have no answer other than stock Denali projectors. Now if you're back to talking about your fogs, from my original post:

But again, it's been debated many times on here before and pictures have been shown: HID's in reflector housings = glare. It's a fact of design. That is why I agree with T3rry that if you're going to put HID headlights in, get projectors.

I just got hids in my lows to go with a set of aftermarket projectors I had and they look really good, nice and clean beam but the cutoff is garbage, thot I mightve put em in wrong or sumthin but I think im gunna have to find a different set of projectors or hurry up and get em in my fogs, any suggestions for new projectors?

You looking for Halo's or not? If not, then Depo all the way. Cutoff is nice, and they don't look too rice.
