That is an aluminum two piece (actually three--one for t-case as well) kit. Everyone just uses the wrong picture.

I got this from another forum, but this is what they look like.

Silver is aluminum for the Z71. It is available as a kit from GM. The black is one-piece plastic and not nearly as rugged.

Any GM parts dealer. Also eBay, Amazon, etc.

Have fun!
Jeez. I'm completely striking out. Dealer only has/shows the one piece plastic one and I'm having no luck on Amazon....

Will the aluminum fit the 4wd Denali xl? Is there really any difference being that it says for the z71 pkg?

I'm hoping that it will fit fine, just that hey offer it as part of the "off-road upgrade of the z71"

No idea...same thing I'm trying to figure out. Hopefully someone here knows. If not I may just ask the dealer to order one and try it out.

Was that the plastic or aluminum shield?

I'm holding out for the aluminum...hoping it's a bit stronger.

Then again, what I should be looking for is which one offers the most coverage.

I'm wondering if the GMC /Cadillac dealer would have the #23176881 in their stock> If that is a Z71 upgrade. Does it have to be bought from a Chevy only Dealership? I did see the skid plate option on the Denali build site. Is that the plastic option?
