Should i buy 1994 Diesel blazer

188, 000 with a little lift....what ? should i ask , have never owned diesel before?? Got to move fast on it.

asking 4500 , all red inside , gonna call and ask about mpg . it will be a 30/40 mile per day truck......giving up a 96 honda with 30 mpg so i can get this. Gotta make sure my wife wont kill me over this!!lol

If you don't do this, you will regret it. Those trucks are hard to come by, and for $4,500? You'd have to be an insane person!

Keep the honda IMO. $4500 is too much and don't expect more than 15 mpg with it.

Be prepared to spend a lot of money on it and make sure you have AAA.

:hmmm2: the diesel models Get better MPGs than our gas motors my uncle had a suburban with a diesel and it got around 23 MPGs highway don't remember what he did in the city , Diesels are good on gas as long as you stay out of the throttle at idle they can run off about a cup of fuel for an hour try that with a gas motor ,

Also for 4500 that is CHEAP for what it is a common 4 door with no specials will run you that much

That thing is worth like $3000 here. They can get around 20 mpg if they are running right. I wouldn't drive one unless I had a backup car. They aren't very reliable and very slow compared to a 7.3 idi ford or a 12v cummins.

I think it is foolish to buy it for gas mileage, but whatever.

Time is money. It takes a lot of time to make bio. If the OP wanted to run bio, I would recommend an older benz with the 3.0 diesel. You can run bio, wmo, and atf mixed with diesel in those things and they are much better on gas and more reliable than a chevy 6.5

I sure wouldn't be afraid of it. I run a 6.2 diesel daily on the tree farm. She's a pretty rough '88 GMC 3/4 ton 2wd with a 5 spd with 265,000 on it now. Putzing around the fields I get 18 mpg and on the road 24 mpg. When it had the original pump and injectors in it I would routinely run 22 in the field and up to 29 on the highway.

I know there were some issues with the first electronic controlled injector pumps but I think that one would be mechanical yet.

6.5's were never a strong engine for GM.....if it was they would have not needed Isuzu'a help.

Ok First off the Ford 7.3 is JUNK , The cummins is great but as we all know cummins was never an option for the Tahoe . The fact how rare it is stands alone . I would love to swap out my gas motor for a Diesel any day of the week , While I love the 5.7 350 it will never match up to the power numbers and possibilities of a Diesel not to mention how reliable they CAN be if maintained properly

Yep also thats why the 7.3 is called the power joke. Id take the 6.5 turbo diesel over the 7.3 any day. And bio diesel isnt hard to make and i wouldnt mind spending the small amount of time it makes to make or just go to mcdonnalds and get some french fry oil;)

I am sure a large chain as McD already is contracted with a company to recycle the oil and they would not give it away to a walk in.

The 7.3 is no cumins, but the 6.5 was no 7.3 either. Everything has its problems. There are far more 7.3s on the road today than 6.5s...
Mainly due to the production numbers....but still.... the Duramax came along for a reason.

I hate to agree with you though the 6.5 had its issues they are correctable today through trial and error. We have a member with a 2 door tahoe with the 6.5 on another forum I'm on and he says once he worked out the kinks It is flawless , He admits that it will never have the output the cummins has but will out last any 7.3 , his words

A buddy of mine picked up a 95 Tahoe with the 6.5 last week. They are rare if your only looking in your local area. If you are willing to travel, they can be had fairly easily. His has 200,000 on the odo and is super clean inside. The exterior is about a 6 out of 10. If you sit mine and his side by side and guess what one has 300,000 mi on it you would guess its his. He paid $4100 and i told him that it was too much.

Get it and swap a cummins into it... Theres plenty of stuff on how to do it. People have already done it. There's a forum that deals specifically with cummins swaps.
www.4btswaps.com www.dieselconversions.com. It should be pretty easy if you start with a taking a diesel out. I imagine you have an 'beefier' frame and suspension in the front of it because of the diesel. There's a reason that it gets better mileage than the gas alternative. It has more torque. Torque to get the tank moving and horsepower to keep it going. I say get it and keep it. It will be a gem if you keep it running and do the neccessary work on it. Maybe try and knock 500$ off because it has a red interior...
