I periodically get a service brake assist message on the DIC of my 2019 Suburban when starting the motor after fueling. The message is there for a few seconds and then disappears. There is no check engine light and no apparent degradation in brake performance.

What is going on?

I think on these k2's there is a seal that goes or can go bad on the brake vacuum also

Monday morning I got the same "Service Brake Assist" warning message. Brake pedal felt strange. A lot more pedal travel, and the pedal was pulsing like the anti lock brake system was activating. Drove to work, and the entire time the problem persisted. Drove home, same situation. Called dealership and made a service appointment. Next day, no issues at all, no warning message, and brakes felt normal. Today, same thing. Truck performed normally.

Dealership is claiming they have already performed the service associated to the recall for this issue. Must have happened while the truck was in for an oil change, because this is the first time I've seen the "Service Brake Assist" message.

Has anyone had this issue, and had the dealership correct it? I'm interested in specifically what the dealership did to correct the problem. Is this a software refresh type of thing, or is there a part requiring replacement?

Ask them for a copy of the work order for the recall since you were not aware they had performed the work.

What sensors in the rear were replaced?

I was mistaken, that was for another error message I had - they replaced 3/4 sensors that time.

For the one you have, they put in a new neg battery cable for me. I was getting constant service brake system lights ans others . The pedal felt funny and would pulse a little. Invoice below …
