What do you think?
I can hear vibration or maybe dry rotation.
Have you checked powersteer fluid level or changed the fliud out for fresh?
Saw a show on YouTube with a guy doing a freshen up.
Pretty easy.
Must check mine!
Thanks for the reminder :)

I'd get under it with a stethoscope and check some components. Could be power steering pump. AC compressor bearings shot. Or several other things. If you don't have a stethoscope, grab something about 18 inches long like a stick, piece of a broom handle, etc. Touch one end to each component while gripping firmly with your hand the other end, and put your ear up against your hand. You'll be surprised how well you can hear what's going on in the component. You should be able to isolate it pretty quick.

I did hear ac compressor was making a “whooshing” type noise. Not necessarily a scarping? I have a stethoscope somewhere. If not, they’re literally like two bucks at Harbor freight

I was hoping for a loose component/piece of metal loose on the exhaust or something

But yeah, I’m gonna have to actually get under there and do a thorough inspection with a stethoscope. Grab some things and see if they move, if it is the AC compressor which to me is probably like worst case scenario. Is that a hard fix? Or if it was the power steering pump that would suck too I think at one point the fluid was low and I just added more fluid to it. I think I used a baster to get some old fluid out of the reservoir.

Yes back in the day we'd use a big ol screwdriver against the palm against the air to check tappets or lifters through the rocker cover.
I have a hand pump which I purchased to charge oils on diff and transfer. That has proved very good to do p.s as well.

Where exactly should I put the stethoscope?

Only happens when I rev it a bit. It only I had friends lol
get a gallon jug of whatever and place it in front of the pedal as needed.
or maybe tie a string around the gas pedal, feed it behind the brake pedal and then out the door under the vehicle, pull as needed. never tried that but it might work.
just use your thinker, there is a way....

I could see where the need to walk and chew gum at the same would apply here, maybe tie the string to your foot so you can use both hands

Yeah, I still can’t find the noise. But I’ll tell you what kind of reminds me of a rattlesnake sounds like a rattlesnakes under my truck.

Sounds like a pulley to me, esp with the increase in RPM? Be easy to test with hood up. Sound can travel weird ways...
Nice truck btw Silver ice metallic forever!

Maybe I was listening to the wrong noise. The shakey noise, not so sure, but maybe power steering pump.
