Hello all:
I recently had this Painless 40120 Digital Power Manager installed in my vehicle. Unfortunately, it is not the solution I was looking for. Last night I was unloading a mower from my trailer, and left the lights the Tahoe/trailer so I could see what I was doing (key in the ON position). I think I'm pretty cool while doing this because even if my main battery drains, I still have my "backup" battery. Well, 25 minutes later the truck was dead, click click click.
So, clearly this relay/isolator does not function the way I was hoping it would. What I was hoping to get from installing this unit was something that would pair the main battery & auxiliary battery together after the main battery was drained to a certain voltage. Or, it would use the auxiliary battery when the key was in the ON position, and use the main battery to start the truck.
I am really looking for an automatic solution, but if I have to flip a switch on the dash, so be it. I want to be able to run the electronics/lights in the truck for an extended period of time without having to worry about not being able to start the truck. Hoping you guys can help. Thanks.
