I've had the p0449 for a month or two now and have the parts sitting there to replace to fix it, but scanned this morning and saw p0449 AND p0445. I looked up 0445 and found that it's probably the cause of my 16mpg highway on my weekend trip vs my normal 18-19. Will the parts to fix the p0449 also fix the p0445? I have the following:

ACDelco 19257603 GM Original Equipment Evaporative Emissions Canister Vent Valve Solenoid Jumper Wiring Harness

ACDelco 20995472 GM Original Equipment Vapor Canister Vent Valve

ACDelco 214-1680 GM Original Equipment Vapor Canister Purge Valve

those are evap emission codes
failure in this system does not affect yer mileage or cause any other driveability issues
its just one more stupid emissions system that they had to put on our cars
basically all it does is instead of letting fuel vapor in the gas tank vent to the outside air
its there is a hose connecting to a big plastic charcoal filter and also connected to the filter is a vent valve solenoid wich opens to the outside air creating a suction to pull the fuel vapor into the canister then there is a hose all the to the purge valve solendoid on top of the throttle body and this opens when its possible for the engine to use the extra fuel vapor
and the PCM checks the evap system for leaks once a drive cycle
so any time this system fails its mostly just an annoyance doesnt affect yer performance or your fuel economy or none of that
so its nothing more then another rediculous emissions system mandated by the EPA

I googled p0445 earlier and saw that a side effect is lower fuel mileage, so I'm hoping that's what has caused it to drop

As already mentioned by another member, these are emmisions codes relating to "leaks" detected in the EVAP system, but should not have any effect on fuel economy. Anyway, check out this thread below. It may contain some answers to your questions.

I based it on that. Any ideas on the fuel mileage drop cause?

Key word is 'slightly'. Maybe a tenth of a MPG, or two, but little more.

Those parts WILL fix your codes, unless the gas cap is defective, but that's rarely the case. Be prepared to get dirty. You'll have to remove the spare tire, and reach your hand up into the rear quarter panel to loosen the hose that's attached to a tab up near the fuel filler hose. Otherwise, it's pretty straight-forward.

I'll note that actually our mileage DROPPED after replacing those parts on our 2010. It was a couple of weeks afterward when we noticed the mileage way down, but it did happen. I haven't figured out the reason for that yet. Our mileage went from the mid-16's to the mid-13's with no change in performance. After reading several posts here about dropping mileage, I'm starting to think they've upped the ethanol content in the fuel we buy, since we purchase our fuel from the same place all the time. Weird.

I replaced the parts on Sunday. Pretty nasty, but easy. Code is gone and hasn't come back yet. I'm taking a trip this weekend so we'll see if my fuel mileage still sucks.
