Drivers door marks

I noticed a strange pattern on my drivers door in the light today (see link above for short video). Almost looks like a row of dots, not door dings, more evenly spaced.

Anyone have an idea of what this could be? Trying to determine if the dealer pulled a fast one on me

kind of looks like where the door skin is glued to the metal reinforcement bar, they keep making the metal thinner and thinner so not surprising.
if you took the door panel off you could verify.
there is a distinct difference in how thin the metal is beginning in 2015, the metal is thinner and the paint is softer.
just barely tapping a grocery cart is going to leave a dent.

That would bug the hell out of me. It may be the metal skin issue as mentioned above...but not normal or acceptable.

If it took you a while to notice, I am sure the dealer didn't see it either.

To me it looks like the area that other doors might have touched if you frequently park in spaces close to other cars like 90% of our destinations

If this was in a brand new vehicle less than a few months old then I am completely wrong about my assumptions

I haven't noticed that noticeable defect on mine but my 2026 does have some paint defects, more than my dodge.

Has a descent amount of paint nibs and also on one door the paint is a little wavy. But that said I still have never seen a perfect paint job on a mass produced car.

If that is a new car if it was me I’d show the dealer and have a body shop fix it.

UPDATE: Brought it to the dealership and they said its normal. They looked at other vehicles on the lot and (according to them) they all had a similar issue.

So no solution from the dealership. However this was not the bodyshop. Thats a separate visit i need to make

Looks like a whole bunch of door dings to me. Def not normal.

Did you personally look at the other trucks in the lot to compare? Mine doesn’t look like that at all. And I’d notice as the car was ceramic coated and it was in a bay with super bright lights when they do the job.

This is true!
Looks exactly like door dings and you won’t see anything like that on a new truck.
My 2024 doesn’t look anything like that yet!
Fortunately most places I park are not that tight and if a spot looks sketchy I always park in a better spot if I can find one.

I have a mark exactly like that on my driver side passenger door but I’ve only ever noticed one, not several. I own a ‘24 Yukon XL SLT and noticed it just a few months of ownership. I assumed something bumped it in the garage but it is a weird mark. It’s like someone would have had to have pressed it with their finger. Or is it a sheet metal issue? Now I wonder.

Unfortunately I did not but it is my next step. I picked up the truck hours before the big ice storm hit here in Texas and my mind was elsewhere.

I do not believe they are door dings, they are far too symmetrical in nature and evenly spaced. Door dings would be at all different heights with different impact marks depending on how hard the door hit. This feels like a manufacturing issue but one I wont know more about until I go to the body shop

Yeah I was saying the look “like” door dings but it looks like a problem with the clear coat is most likely.

Did you take a bright light and try to see if the paint there is totally flat or is it actual dings? I can’t really tell. Could also be the door was not totally flat when they painted it.

Is it in just the door? If it’s one panel it might not be too bad of a repair.

Just the door and just that door. I did not see it anywhere else on the vehicle.

It almost looks like connection points of the sheet metal to the door frame. Its very odd and only noticeable in certain light/viewing angles. I still want to get it fixed but its not a major issue right now

I looked at my 2024 GMC Yukon Denali and may have seen 1 “ding” like that. As hard as it is to see I would let it go. One of the worst experiences I have ever had was trying to get a paint/sheetmetal imperfection fixed on a new US made vehicle. It ended up worse than when I started.
Generally speaking the paint on a GM vehicle as compared to say Lexus is night and day. I exclusively owned Lexus vehicles starting in 1990 (GM vehicle I had was a company owned vehicle) and until the recent problems with LX V6 which I traded for the Yukon would only buy Lexus.
