I have a 95 hoe.. with a 350 tbi... i want to swap this out with something more reliable and more grunt and easier to get more power out of it.. here is my question... which is easier the 5.3 swap or the 6.0 swap... and i need a parts list for both and approximate cost... i am getting a new 4l60e with a shift kit and upgraded converter for 800 bucks i think it is a good deal... but what motor and what all is intailed... i need to know exact so i can call around here in kansas city to find parts.

The 5.3 and 6.0 are both the same engine with the exception of the larger bore on the 6.0, so installation will be the same. You'll need to swap the entire harness and pcm for the motor unless you install an aftermarket LSx carb intake. Fuel lines will need to be modified or swapped out. Throttle cable set-up is different on some year models. 03+ models and some 01-02 models came with dbw throttle bodies, so keep this in mind when looking. You'll need a new fuel pump and aftermarket motor mounts also. There are a few other minor things that may need to be changed as well such as radiator hoses, intake box/housing, etc.

That's a broad question man. Who the hellis going to tell you everything you need for it. You want more grunt? Go for a 383 supercharger or TTs, shit even swap for a 454 or something. Swapping a 6.0 or 5.3 isn't going to be easy and to come easy to you from a forum, find out yourself. Sorry man, but seriously?? Do some homework. What's the point on a 5.3? I know their nice motors, but I've seen some badass TBIs, one would be including TTguy on here and a couple ppl with superchargers. ie, me... Haven't installed it yet, but I'm sure as hell I can beat a 5.3..

what is so good about an ls1??? the 350 you have in your truck now would be cheaper to work on and you wouldnt have to wrry about all that custom shit. heads cam intake would put you up pretty high in the numbers..
i just dont understand why your going for a completly diff motor.

Well, the LS1 is a stronger block, lighter, and has a more efficient intake and ignition system.

i thought the heads were why it was lighter? Ignition-thats a damn expensive tune up there and in the TAs and formulas, you have to either drop or pull the motor out to get to the last couple of plugs and crap.. ouch, im not sure if there will be enough room in the hoe for that not to happen..

It's lighter because the block and heads are aluminum. The block has 6 bolt mains, making it stronger than the older 2 and 4 bolt blocks.
The plug change will be the same amount of work as with the original block once it's in the truck. It's only harder in the cars (f-bodies) because of the how far the cowl goes over the rear of the engine and the tight space in the engine bay. BTW, all the plugs in the f-bodies are accessible w/o unbolting the eng from the mounts, just a PITA. Tune up should cost roughly the same. It's replacing bad components like coil packs is when it can get expensive.

the reason i want this ls1 is cause it dynoed at 470 hp at teh fly wheel naturaly aspirated... try getting a tbi to do that.......and if you get it to do that you spent an assload of money... i hae priced a new set of heads intake msd system headers cam 1.6 rockers and pretty much anything else i could think of te get a few more ponies out of the hoe... pound for pound and dollar the 5.7 ls1 is making more sense cnsidering i have a gm wiring tech making the harness

Just did my half ton went with zz4 block and fast burn heads spent close to 6500 so far will be doing more always more to do. also it will take several months I would say two minimum to do right trust me it will not happen in a week especially since you are going to a more computer controlled engine. set aside extra cash 500-1000 for unexpected items may not need it but just in case.
