Hey everyone, new member here, I am going to look at an '06 Yukon XL Denali tomorrow. It's loaded with about 54k on the odo. The pictures look clean, black with tan interior, the asking price is $23k. I figured I'd ask the opinions of folks who know these vehicles better than me.

Anything to look out for? Thoughts?

TIA,
Dane

drive it at 35-45 mph with steady throttle inputs, listen for grinding on th front end..

also check for clunking when in/out of gear put in R, then back to D see if it clunks.

with that low of miles there shouldn't be much wrong.

As long as it is in great condition (which a 2006 Denali should be). Sounds like a pretty good deal. I got my '04 Yukon XL Denali w/ 33k miles this summer for $17,500. So your is slighter higher mileage but newer. I would say low $20s (ie $20k-23k) is a good deal.

Might be worth taking to a mechanic to look it over. Like said before, check clunking in gears, grinding / moaning in the front end, make sure the air ride suspension work (ie compressor comes on), ALL automatic a/c controls (heat and cool), etc. These things are expensive to replace so best to make sure it all works before you purchase.

Air-ride, Hubs, All Electronics, Transmission are problem areas but the price seems kinda high. I'd offer around $18k and if not keep looking :imo:

Thanks for the info guys, we drove it this afternoon, it was in decent shape, normal wear and tear. The comp (unless it was reset recently) only showed 500-someodd hours on the engine.

But the wind noise from the windshield was horrendous.... After driving that I drove an '07 Denali XL with about 48k on the odo. MUCH nicer, but about 10k more.

I think I am going to look for a 4x4 tahoe or yukon with leather. Keep the price down a bit.

Odd I've never really noticed much wind noise from the windshield...occasionally from the side mirrors.

It sounded like it was coming from the the windshield, could have been the antenna or something else up front, but it was the only thing I could hear while driving down the road. Don't get me wrong, I didn't think it was an inherent issue with these vehicles, just this one in particular.

I have had that problem ever since I had my windshield replaced, I think the people who did mine didn't seal it very well!!

O.K.
Just bought an '05 yukon denali xl . I've got the wind noise . Not as bad as the wifes '05 tahoe . What is the deal with the humm or moan in the front end . It sounds like the wifes when in 4x4 . Is something broke ?
My fist AWD . I paid 19.9K plus taxes . 59k miles . One owner , local trade . GM certified .
Hope I did'nt get beat up to bad . I love this truck !

Got my 05 Denali XL with 57k in Sept 09 paid 23k and some change.

Shortbus, slight hum is normal that's the all wheel world. Should be almost un-noticed for the most part. If it's real noticeable, have a look into it.. and you didn't get beat up. One thing no one ever mentions is the region within where they made their purchase or their buying. Plays a big part in costs. Additionally, here taxes can swing severely based on county you live in.
