help me decide on front-end

alright heres whats going on. i was driving with my girl the other day and we started seeing a shit load of tahoes. we always like to be different and we agreed to change the tahoe a bit so i came up with changing the front end to a 03-06 silverado clip maybe SS. Second option would be a full 99-02 silverado HD front clip.

ok i did my research combining craigslist, ebay, and certifit i can get the 03-06 front for less than $600 this includes aftermarket headlights retrofitted and aftermarket 1 piece front grille.

second option is the 99-02 silverado HD front. for this front end i will need less parts but for some reason it comes down to about $380. i expected to be a lot less.


now in the long run it will be cheaper because i will be selling all of my stock z71 crap parts. right now im placing together a drop kit for it, consist of what i have right now is djm lcas, 3/4 ton keys, qa1 springs, and shock extenders. total cost so far for the incomplete drop kit is about $238.66 all new except the keys.lol.

anyways lots of pans here so please give your opinion on this or if you have a suggestion let me know thanks.

I vote for the HD front end, (I plan on doing it when I can afford it)
I like both but in my opinion with the SS front end I would be dissapointed if mine looked like an SS but didn't perform like one.

Personally I feel the 03-06 Silverado front end is an abomination. It was a shortcut to bringing out a new model while the old model had gone stale. Certain trucks, the SS included don't look too bad and lifted HD's are allright but in general they are the ****.

HD front end got my vote as well. I sort of think the 03-06 Silverado looks cool but part of me doesn't think it looks quite right. As far as the HD front end, I have never seen it done (other than the hood which a lot of us have done) and I think it would look awesome.

thanks guys so far the 03-06 front has the most votes. my girl likes the 99-02 HD front better but i feel like if i do this it wont change much.

2 fenders 1 hood 2 bumper lights = $250 Cl

1 grille 2 headlights = $245 ebay

headlight mounting bracket x2 and reg bumper= $86 with SS $122 sortafit

with ss bumper comes to $617+or- i might need a bumper bracket but my buddy can weld one for me for free.

the more i look for parts the more i find like this guy. he has been having this for a while im sure he would let it go for cheap now. http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1525492170.html

i got all of the parts to do the retrofit.

im going to pull the plug and go with the 03-06 front end. i wil start buying parts tomorrow.

i like both, BUT...too many people have just the HD hood or a escalade front cap, and it think a SS front end would looks suhweet and set you apart from the other tahoes, but its your choice, do what you think would look good cus its your truck and not for anyone else..

IN my opinion the 03-06 front end does not fit the Tahoe. I have seen a few that have this (my friend tells me they made some tahoes with the silvy/avalanche front end but I dont think they did) and the sqaured off 03-06 nose does not match the roundness of the back of the tahoe so it looks off. Just my opinion. Go witht he 99-02 HD look. Looks good on tahoes, everything is rounded.

you are right but i think an esky roof rack and rear vents might make the tahoe alil more squared. oh and some squared led tail lights probably remove my roll pan for the stock bumper. also they made suburbans with this front but only in Mexico.
