Ok so talked with Nathan and i am going to post this here for now.
being that this pertains to OBS, NBS, NNBS i decided this location for starters

ok here goes.. thinking of regearing

now what information i am after is any of you that have regeared to lower gears..

with this said i am after information like what ratio you started with adn what you went to and a comparison of MPG, power gain, what was your RPM shift. aka what you cruised at before at a set hwy speed..

no yes i know the transmissions are different.. 4l60 4l80 the 6 speeds etc.. i know those trans ratios effect the MPG lets leave those variable out. if you simply tell me start ratio and end ratio and you you like and economy and power i can do the other side..

Start gear ratio
end gear ratio
opinions
tire size
how you like
rpm before and rpm after at a given speed
effects of fuel economy...

thanks all

Another here interested! I have an 03 z71 and want to do the 4.56 gears. I've looked a pretty good bit on the internet, not much info out there for some reason. I'll be doing the switch after the new year before pulling the boat again. Mine is a slob with the 35's and the boat behind it.

With the VVT and DOD I don't think something like 3.08 to 3.73 will affect much mpg. Obviously 3.08 to 4.56 is a completely different story I presume.

Blazed stock the NBS is a 3.73 unless it was a factory upgrade to a 4.10

Dripping wet. I totally know the feeling. Think about a loaded camper. I can't ever be in a rush when towing.

I towed the boat last week for the first time with the "new to me" Tahoe, and holy cow! I will be regearing very shortly. I've talked to a couple people and I think I'm going to go with 4.88's and Yukon locking rear.
Everyone I talk to that has been regeared say its the best thing they did.

I've been tore between the 4.88 and the 4.56; quite honestly for towing, I'm thinking just as well go with the 4.88's.
