g80 - slip additive or not ?

going to change gear oil. have a G80. do i need the slip additive?

thanks man - i keep hearing about the bomb and i cringe every time i feel mine lock up but what is an alternative to replace it? i don't want an air locker. should i worry until it does blow?

If you have funds, I'd find myself a Detroit Trutrac or a Lockrite.

Or just upgrade to a 14Bolt SF. I don't see the point of putting money into a 10 bolt for the most part

I didnt put additive in my previous g80 when i changed the fluid and it chattered like a mother...

never chattered before hand. i vote yes do it

when i placed my order i ordered some slip lock but i wont put it in unless i definitely hear chatter.

probably wont consider other options until the G80 blows. thanks for the links and info though.

check out the bolt that holds the pin in place. Mine was wearing like in the picture and this is what causes them to go sometimes. Brothers blew up that way, the bolt snapped inside and tore shitup.
There like 6 dollar bolts from murrays or summit.

thanks for that. i didn't even think to ask what i should look for when i change the fluid. is there any other things i could look for and check for wear while i have it open?

Look at all the teeth to make sure there wearing evenly, any metal shavings on the magnet, just check it out to make sure it all looks somewhat normal lol..

If your not sure take a few pictures and come back here so we can analyze it for you
