what is the "BEST" milage you've gotten out of your Hoe' (or Yukon) ???

I'm talking most miles/tank
or MPG (miles / gallons of fuel to fill the tank)

I've had my Hoe about a month now,
havn't gotten her out on the interstate much, been averaging about 13.5-14mpg
then this week I did about 2/3 tank of open highway and got 425 miles to a 24.2 gal fillup (17.5 mpg)

I remember getting 20-21 out of my brother's tahoe on a long trip (70mph for 400 miles, no stops)
is this rare?

BTW:

window sticker said:
14mpg city / 17mpg highway (15mpg avg)

the Govt's FuelEconomy.Gov says the 2001 Tahoe 5.3 4x4 is rated for
13mpg city / 16mpg highway (14mpg avg)

That must have been the smaller motor. I don't think i've ever heard of anyone getting 21 out of the 5.3 litre.

best i could do at 65 was an even 20.
but that was on 20's so maybe teh 16s would have given that 1 extra mpg... @65. Not at 70 though.

must have been a 4.8 Tahoe with the 3.42 rear gear and flatlands.

I don't think a 4.8 with 3.42 gears would even push one of these pigs up my driveway

I know it's a 5.3 (it's a 2001 LT 4x4)
(not sure what gears it has)

I've known several people to get 22mpg out of a 5.3 (in trucks)

I get 11mpg just driving to and from work and that is only 15 miles of 4 lane and 10 miles for highway and 2 of gravel. I got a stock 04 hoe AWD. E85 is the 11 premium only gets me 14mpg.

you will almost always use 30% more fuel when using E85

I too thought I was getting horible mileage in my '02 yukon with 115k. I generally fill up when the Low Fuel Light comes on. Just to give me an accurate reference point. Now I've noticed that when I fill up soon after that light comes on, I can usually only pump about 4-5 gallons shy of what the stated fuel tank size is. This leads me to believe that when the low fuel light comes on, you still have 4-5 gallons left. I've been averaging 19.5 on gas and 16-17 on e85.

I'm not worried about what people avg,

I wanna know what's about the best people have ever gotten (over a whole tank)

I'm planning on a 400mile each way trip to my parents (80% interstate)
it should give me a pretty good idea, but I'll be pretty loaded down.

what do you pay for "Corn Juice" out there?
it's just as expensive as Petrol here in the PNW

so to use E85, means paying 1/3 more than for gas

1.80 a gallon for e85(maybe lower I can't remeber) Premium was 2.89 e10 2.59 and 87 octane is 2.69. I would still use it if it cost the same as regular because I like to farm and I work at an ethanol plant.

last time I got E85, (for my mom's FlexFuel impalla) back in 2008
it actually cost the same as Premium (when I'd read it was about half the price in the midwest.

it's subsodized by the govt,
there's no reason for it to be this expensive

12 MPG at 70-75 mph on the NJ turn pike = all flat road :disgust:
this has me terrified especially with a summer time Florida trip scheduled (1300 miles one way)
