The folks who have replied know WAY more than I do. But when my 2001 Yukon had the clunking and bumping we finally figured out the exhaust was resting on the frame crossmember. Clever mechanic was able to fix after muffler shop weld failed. No problems since.
Easy to see anyway. Good Luck

A new steering shaft resolved this on my 2002 Yukon. It had seized up where it telescopes and I could feel everything in the steering wheel.

I had similar noises, hard over the bumps. Replaced the strut and problem was solved. Make sure they are properly installed and tightened.

I had control arm bushings go bad and then replacement MOOGs do the same about 15 months later. They could be sighted by backing slowly and braking while someone watched' movement was obvious.

I’ve started pricing racks and there’s not a lot of options as far as I can see. Cardone, BBB Industries, etc. Both reman. and new but the general consensus is that theyre all junk. I’ll have to look into having my rack rebuilt, it’s not a daily driver so it can sit for a while if I can find someone to rebuilt it.
I've had a reman BBB rack on my '07 for 3 years now and it's been fine. I was just under it replacing the LCA's and CV axles last weekend and it's still clean, leak free, and tight as a drum.
