Factory remote start

I have a 2008 PPV Tahoe. I do not have remote start at this point. If I get a factory remote start remote and program it will the remote start function as well or is more needed to make it work?

I bought a kit on eBay and had the dealer install
It was a set of numbers and 2 remotes
I believe the numbers are needed to activate programming or something
