nope. But mine is leather not rubber. I treat it with the same cleaner I treat the seats with.

YES!!! Just bought mine, but that is the first thing that the wife and I noticed. I think the new ones ('09+) have a cover that looks like brushed aluminum instead of the black. I was going to see if I could find one somewhere.

You can always just but an LTZ steering wheel. No peeling with leather

how do you go about doing that because mine did the exact same thing?
but the part thats peeling isnt the steering wheel its the trim pieces like near the radio controls. you can order the trim online at gmpartsdirect. type in your vehicle to catalog and its under steering wheel then trim then cover. you can choose your color from there.

I swear one of the '09s I looked at had brushed aluminum here instead of the black?

On my '07 LTZ they are black and have started peeling now that I'm at 38K miles and out of warranty. On my new '09 LTZ they are the aluminum look so hopefully they last a little longer.

What? Owning a GM vehicle? Yes! I have that problem. I'm sure the stupid steering wheel in mine will fall out any day now. Box of crap.

tranny reseal
autostart inop
pass lock not working
rear main seal leaking

It does have a shit ton of miles on it though, 9,500. That is ALOT. I'm starting to hate that truck.

lol take it for service, you have a warranty. I had the tranny seal leaking and it was fixed for free in less than a day. I even got a loaner 2009 tahoe lt1 while it was in the shop. Also fixed a dent for free, and gave it a full detail. You give up to quickly.

My 07 LTZ has the same issues in the same place. I dont even put my hands there when I drive so I have no idea why it is peeling... The Chevy dealer in my town sucks so I go to the GMC dealership for all my issues or services. Ill ask them when I go in next time if there is a replacemnent.

If you're out of warranty, you can buy the replacement panels for around $50 for both.....mine were worn, I bought them the day I brought the Tahoe home....only thing is I'm going to have the dealer install them next time its in for service, I'm not messing with the airbag

I have an 08 LT3 that has the black trim, presumably because my interior is black. It's not showing any signs of wear or whatever.

But I did go to the dealer to get a price quote on those little aluminum trim pieces, they're WAY too expensive for the size that they are.

no big deal to me. I got to drive an 09 with a 6 speed and learn i hate it.

You really hate it? I confess, when I bought it my driving experience was different. The extra cogs do make a difference. I know this may sound crazy, but it is as if my truck learned how I like to drive it, but it drives better now than when I bought it. The 6 speed is awesome. No matter what speed, if I gun it the truck flies. It is very responsive at any speed. I think it really helps the 5.3 shine. I took it into the mountains this past summer and it never looked back.

Actually mine peeled off completely. I bought the trim at GMPD and had it laying around for a few weeks. I was a lil skeptical about doing it myself since you have to deal with the airbag.

One day I was just fed up with it and did it. Took all of 15 minutes to do.

I had the black ones on there. The rest of the trim in mine is brushed aluminum so i switched the steering wheel trim to brushed aluminum.
