Denali Gauge Cluster Transferred to Base Model

Hi everyone,

I know someone who recently totaled their 2005 Sierra Denali and he said I could have anything I could salvage from it. The main thing I want is the gauge cluster because it has a transmission temperature gauge. Will the new cluster plug right into mine and will everything be correct like my mileage?

Also, I really don't care for the gray (or tan, whichever it is) color in the denali gauge. Could I swap that part for my black one? I'm talking about the circular extruded shapes around the actual gauges (example in photo).

I'll keep you posted on that. I haven't taken these clusters apart before. Will that grey piece come off with the rest of the clear plastic on the front of the cluster?

Yes, it is one piece with the clear plastic cover.

$50-$100

depends on the dealership. I had mine reprogrammed in 10 minutes at the dealer and they charged me for 1/2 hour labor. Others have been charged a full hour labor since that's the minimum some dealers say they'll charge

Well looks like it's a no go. It was hauled away before I could get to it. I can still find a gauge online and install it right?

I plan on just getting a gauge face, needle and stepper motor for mine. Cheaper and I'd rather not have to go to the dealer

First put on parking break, then shit gear all the way to first, then remove trim cover. There are 4 12mm screws holding in the cluster in all 4 corners. Remove those and cluster will come out. There is also three plugs to remove from the back of the cluster before it will come out

Thanks but I meant just the one trans temp gauge. Like retrofitting it into my current one

I don't know about about20ninj45's cluster but the one in my 2004 Tahoe and 2001 Suburban was held in place with 4 screws with a 7mm head. Both of my vehicles also had only 1 plug on the top/back of the cluster. The cluster comes out of the vehicle fairly easily, 10 minutes max.
