I was driving back home from Las Vegas, and I always use the cruise control on my hoe, just to keep me out of trouble. half way home, all of a sudden my speed started to go down, my cruise control had turned off, and i couldn't set it again. i turned it off then on, and nothing. After a while it started to work again. It happens on and off once in a while, anybody had this issue?

Never. Check your brake light switch.

Make sure nothing on your brake wiring somehow came loose. Your lights need to have a current for the cruise to work. And what Roger said

Thanks, I'll check it out tomorrow, the thing that ticks me off is that it works, and all of a sudden it turns off, it doesn't happen all the time, but it does. For some reason, when I need it.

that's the thing, it just turns off. The first time it happened, I was coming from vegas and i put it on cruise, it did good for 150 miles, and all of a sudden it turned off. And didn't turn on till i was close to the house. I didn't touch the breaks at all, and since it has happen a couple of times after that, i can tell you is no bump that makes it turn off. I don't know.

I guess you were right about the brake light switch, it happen again today, but this time i tapped the brakes, hit the switch again, cruise control turned on. I also need to replace my brakes, would that make the brake pedal, go down a little bit, making this happen. I guess it could be a possibility. Thanks

What do you mean by heated steering, I don't understand your question. Do you mean that your denali didn't come with cruise control, or that the cruise control just doesn't work?

I didn't know that Denali came with warmers on the steering wheel prety cool. Roger suggested the brake light switch. In my case I'm assuming since I need a change of brakes, that might be the reason the pedal is not going back to the same position. Making it not work. Because if I tap on the brakes when it's not working, it starts working again. If your truck still under warranty take it in. Otherwise check your brake light switch.

jr: Did you ever find the answer yo your problem with the cruise? I have the same problem and also think it's the breake switch. Did you get to the bottom of it? I don't think your wearing brake pads will have anything to do with the brake pedal not returning fully to it's non braking position. I don't think it has anything to do with where the brake pedal is resting but instead I think it's the switch on the break pedal that needs to be re-aligned.

ChevyheadVT: Never did, I just live with it now. When it doesn't turn on, I just tap the break, and it turns on. It still does it. Gets frustrating, but I really don't know much about where the break switch would be, so I just left it like that. But any info would be appreciated.

Guys not sure if this is the solution for everyone, but I had the same issue with my recently purchased 07 Tahoe LTZ. When I picked it up I had no problem with the cruise, over the next few days I was checking out the features of the vehicle, one of them being the adjustable pedals. After this my cruise worked from time to time and then not at all. When I took the pedal sensors apart, one of them was for the adjustable pedals, in messing with this I found that when the pedals where at the furthest most position it slightly engaged the stop switch, so I just bumped them up and all is working fine, it has been a week or so with no hiccups. Again I have adjustable pedals, but if you have them it is worth a try.

I don't have adjusting Pedals, I have the LS model, unless some of them have, mine doesn't. If anybody could take a pictures of where this switch is, I would appreciate it.

Update!!!!

Well I had the same issue with my cruise and found something on the web that finally worked. There is a brake switch that is connected to the brake pedal and master cylinder rod under the dash. I removed the clip and harness and you can take it out of the vehicle. I took the cover off and found two of the contact pads had black marks on them, so I took the switch completely apart and cleaned the contact areas with 1000 grit sand paper. I re-assembled and installed the switch and it has worked for the last month on demand every time without a hiccup. Seems this is the root cause and although it may happen again it was an easy fix. The switch could be replaced as well, but nobody was open(weekend) which caused me to investigate myself.
