Hi
I just bought a used 2015 GMC Yukon XL Denali which is being loaded into a container and onto a cargo ship to be imported to switzerland (in europe) to be used there. It is going to replace my 2007 Suburban LTZ which now has almost 200k miles on it and is still running strong.

in order to get the car inspected and registered in switzerland i need to convert a few things to our standards like for example parking/position lights need to be white rather than orange. one annoying requiremet in switzerland is, that if you have HID lights, they need to be equipped with an automatic hight adjustment system and with a washing system. both of which are missing on the Yukon Denali as far as i could see.

in order to solve this i would like to convert my headlights to halogen ones as they are fitted on the lower range models as none of the above mentioned mechanisms are required for halogen lights.

I understand this is not a conversion that is frequently done, but maybe there is somone around who has seen both types and can tell me what the difference is and if i need to buy a new set of headlight assemblies or if i can just put a halogen bulb in my HID reflectors. also does anyone know where i could tap into the cars wiring in order to get 12v to the bulbs? the last cars i had that where equipped with HID lights all had inverters and stuff and you could not simply use whatever came to the bulb to power a halogen light.

in case i really need to purchase a new set of headlights, is there anyone who has a left-over set of halogen headlight assemblies after a conversion to HID or some other aftermarket ones? I am really not too motivated to spend over $600 per side just to go from HID to halogen, but dealing with our requirements would be far more complex and expensinve.

cheers

I wiss I had seen this post earlier, would have traded my headlight assembly with yours. Anyways, I wanted to know what you ended up doing regarding the matter. The Yukon's lights are terribly weak and I am looking for a solution at the moment.
