Has anyone had any luck repairing a clock spring issue, or experienced an issue with heated steering wheel only coming on when the wheel is slightly turned?
Let me explain, 2012 GMC Yukon XL 1500 SLT, when the wheel is straight, the heated wheel will not turn on, but I bumped it one day while cornering and it came on, but as soon as the wheel was straight it turned off. I tried a few times and was able to duplicate it each time. So, my guess is a bad spot on the clock spring, but is there a way to fix this or am I going to need a whole new unit? They aren't cheap, but I need to replace the turn signal assembly, since my high beams come on with right signal, and I'd like to try to fix it while I have the wheel off if there is a way. If not, I believe I can replace the turn signal assembly without pulling the wheel and airbag.
I'm just wondering if anyone has noticed a specific bad spot that may develop that could be corrected with a bit of liquid copper.
Lastly, if it cannot be fixed, is there a difference in the clock spring when you don't have active brake control and auto cruise?
