CAT back w/dual exhaust, moderate noise

Vehicle is 2004 Tahoe Z71. Looking to install a new dual exhaust system from CAT -back. 2 local muffler shops tell me the dual pipe on the left side is a difficult arrangement due to the gas tank interference. 2nd shop put it up on a rack and I saw the trouble area. It does look crowded where pipe has to go over the axle on the left side. Now looking at the Flowmaster and Borla sites I see they offer set-ups/kits for my application.

So looking for comments and/or experiences? Are my local shops just not wanting to take on the task. I'm not the kinda guy that wants to "bring my own parts and you install 'em".

I'm at the crossroad with u as well. My 04 tahoe 2wd is running y pipe with the catts deleted and single out with pro street muffler. Would love duals

I have their cat back Extreme dual exhaust, but that would be much too loud for your use.

Note, that I had to remove my spare tire, in order for their system to fit my truck, but they noted that right in the pre-sales literature, so it was not a surprise to me.

Yes one of the shops I contacted mentioned how easy this install would be if the spare was removed. If I removed the spare, I'd never get my wife to ride with me again ! After 275,000 miles, I've never had the spare on.

My spare tire in my 1997 Yukon (RIP) was rust welded to the frame of the truck for the entire time that I owned it.

For my current Yukon XL, this has been my spare tire, since I installed the Gibson exhaust system.

dual exhaust on these has been done millions of times, with the spare on and left on, find a better shop.
just a matter of using your brain and bending tubing
only thing I can add is be sure the bend over the axle is sufficient to allow for full travel of the axle otherwise it hit's on the pipe.
be sure the heatshield around the spare is present it can get hot right there as the pipe will need to be fairly close.
