This recall is bs. I have two that fit the requirements. Both are comming up on needing an oil change. I don’t want to drop 150$ on each just to get the letter for the recall oil change.
If you are on the recall list and haven’t received the letter just get the regular 0-20W and wait until you get the letter.

recalls do have an expiration date. However for safety recalls they are usually lengthy in time period.
If you don’t have extended warranty at 62k I would recommend you bring it in as soon as possible if you get the “letter”. If you pass the inspection you will get the extended warranty ( albeit with the restrictions) and you will have some piece of mind with that.

I hadn’t gotten my letter yet and made an appointment with my dealer for the recall
They completed the inspection & oil change and my letter arrived 3 days later
If your vin is on the list the dealers have access to the entire list

Forget the letter. I scheduled my inspection a week before the letter was delivered in my mail. Just call your local dealer and give them your vin. As long as it shows in their system that the remedy is ready, they’ll schedule you in. They did this for me.

If it was me, I would go buy 0W20 oil at Walmart enough to change it at home, not even worry about changing the filter, and get out of it for about 40 bucks. Just drain and refill. Then you can schedule your vehicle a month or so down the road with no worries and the least expense.

Question for those of you that have had the 'Test' done --
How long did it take?
Did you have to leave the vehicle overnight, or is it possible to Wait while the test was done?
Transportation issues makes me prefer to sit and wait at the dealership.... will the Dealer allow this, time-wise?
And how did you decide which Dealer, as there are a few GMC, a few Chevrolet dealers to choose from. I sort of question the competency of all of them; so I've got to pick one. Reviews are very mixed for all local dealers (service departments)

Like others, I'm not sure which outcome to hope for; as both have pros / cons to them.

I get that. But imagine I get an oil change 150$ out the door. Loss of my car for a day only to get the letter the next day for the recall. That’s why I’m pissed.

What brand oil and what brand filter? There is some generic crap out there.
As far as I know, Dexos 0-20w.... Coupon at my local GMC Dealer, $99 for oil, filter and tire rotation. Local garage I use, approx $110 out the door for the same - oil and rotation.
I just thought the $150 as quoted by Blueinterceptor was a bit high, that's all.

Anybody that's had the test performed, care to comment on my post a page back? How long does it take; and can I wait for it?

There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse, cannot make a little cheaper and the people who consider price only, are this man's lawful prey.

At work, we had a saying that convey's the same thoughts:
Price, Quality or Delivery -- Choose Two! (think about it)
