Blacking on my front and rear bumper

Taking them off isnt hard, just a pain in the ass, IMO. Bolts are hard to reach and if your using hand tools it's just time consuming but not a big deal at all (remember which bolts go where). The moldings pop right off, and you really cant ruin them. So i say good luck and should look good.

I do mean powder coat. From what I’ve heard, you can’t paint chrome unless you spend a lot of time getting rid of it.
My buddy who is rebuilding his 67 mustang just had his chrome bumpers powder coated and they turned out great. He is essentially “murdering out” this old car and man it looks good.
He said each bumper only cost him $60 and all he did was took off the bumper from the vehicle and took off the moldings. They did the rest. He said they don’t actually sand blast all the chrome off but just enough to rough then smooth the surface out.
I like the look of the Limited bumper, but don’t like that it’s so plain looking. I’m thinking a black bumper with moldings will be just the right blend for my hoe.
I'll post some pics after i get it done.

what yr truck do you have?? powdercoating your bumpers is fine, painting them also is fine. Its all up to you tho.

dont put the moldings back on... just try and find custom bumpers and stuff over the internet. alot of them are in primer so you can paint them
For the cost of having the chrome bumper blasted and powder coated you could buy the painted versions of the bumper w/mldgs for less. The cost to fill those holes (correctly)would be pretty high. The chrome would have to be removed in the slotted areas so they could be welded. Then it would have to be grinded smooth and filled. I'm showing in my estimating program an aftermarket front bumper with mldgs and paint to match for $171.00. How much would they charge to blast and powder coat?
as posted above... the guy will do each bumper for $60.00. For both bumpers, im only out $120.
I think the rear bumper will look great, no worries at all. The only thing im a lil concerned about is the front bumper. The molding has a really small strip of chrome on it and i already debadged my hoe. We'll see though.

Sorry about that. I'm blind. $120 for both bumpers is pretty good...assuming they do good work. Sounds like you like the work they did on your buddys Mustang so you should be happy.

You've already removed the side strips? If you have IMO removing the bumper strips would complete the look, I still have the bumper moldings on mine but I'm gonna remove those as soon as I can.

I am kinda at a crossroads as to what I think would look good. I some what agree the front trim needs to come off since I took off the side, but don’t really like the limited's bumper’s smooth look.
I think its worth the $60 to see. btw, my powder coater does good work
Finally did it..... I am waiting on my front, all black, impact strip from LMC truck though. So until then, I just used some Kyrlon Fusion to paint over the chrome strip. If you arn't a fan of it, use it and you will be.
All in all, it turned out nice. When I get the truck re-painted black, I might have them paint an actual gloss black as opposed to the semi-flat that the powder coating did.
I have 09' "Tahoe" decals to put on the side, but am waiting on a paint job first.

de-badge.....what a PITA!!!!
Still need to take the rear window vents off and paint those too...
Next step, black rims then fender flares.....
