My Blazer has the 4L60E transmission and was supposedly rebuilt 30K ago. I am having an issue where it will not shift into 1st gear or overdrive unless I manually shift it down to first gear on the column. I still am unable to get overdrive for some reason. I haven't dropped the pan yet to look at the filter, but pulled the dipstick and it looked clean with no burned smell. I asked a friend of mine who's Dad owns a transmission shop and they think I have a bad torque converter as it was not changed out during the new trans swap.. Anyone know what it could be or experienced this same problem? I know the linkage is correct as I adjusted it a few times and still didn't make a lick of difference....

Thanks in advanced for any info, really frustrated that she is down for the moment.

could be the TQC but when mine had problems it was just due to a hard shift

Time to google 4l60e and see if any of those gears are related as far as bad solenoid, or share a clutch pack. Could be the valve body or shift solenoid, but doubtful that the converter itself will have an affect unless it is coming apart and producing metal shavings.
Looks as though people have had luck with shift solenoid replacement and ignition switch replacement.....no power to trans fuse.
Also check the trans wiring harness plugs.

Ouch, don't have a clue unfortunately. Transmission problems tend to become expensive, so I hope it's no big deal to fix this for you.

11. No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM

Does this sound like your issue at all? Otherwise, I'll post up this link for you to read threw
