I'm pretty sure my compressor is out, it doesn't come on at start up anymore, or at anytime, and the "service ride control" is on my dash. The shocks or lines don't seem to be leaking. I've never heard any air coming out, and they seem to have plenty of air in them now. They were also leak tested just last November. What do you think, just replace the compressor?

Well usually the shocks begin to fail, causing the compressor to prematurely wear out and die, too bad you can't borrow another compressor to make sure the shocks aren't leaking instead of buying both separately!! If you are positive that the shocks and/or lines aren't leaking, then yes just buy a compressor!! I bought mine through Arnott and absolutely am happy with my purchase!!

We had a compressor fail on our Denali before the shocks failed, which they eventually did...

It looks like the previous owner replaced the shocks with the ones from Arnott back in November last year, but didn't replace the compressor. I'm thinking they had leaking shocks, so they replaced them. Which left a compressor that was overworked for who knows how long, and has now gone out. Think I'm going to try just the compressor.

That's cool that you already have the Arnott shocks, then you are probably right that the compressor was probably overworked from the old shocks. I'd do the compressor as well if that's the case!!

Their compressor is pretty cool, even comes with a rebuild kit for the dryer and it's all pretty much OEM looking!! Just gotta cut the plug off of the OEM one and splice it onto the new one, and also be prepared to have to break off all 3 mounting screws that hold the compressor onto the truck!! Stupid GM had to use some of the smallest screws they could find and they are practically impossible to take off without breaking them off!!

And also, check out their price on their site as well as their Ebay listing, pretty sure their Ebay listing is cheaper!!

The Arnott compressor works great. The hardest part is removing the 3 broken screws that secure the compressor to the vehicle. I just dremeled mine off-drilled out the holes-and used new stainless ones. You may also need a large adjustable pliers and a vise to take the dryer apart. Great instructions-trust me you will be happy!!

Ok, upon further inspection, I can see the compressor was replaced the same time as the shocks with the unit from Arnott. It does come on for a couple seconds upon start-up. The shocks and lines are definately holding air. I noticed what looks like a purge valve on both sides of the truck. Could these be bad?

If the compressor is working at all, then I'd say the compressor is fine!! Try hooking up to a big trailer or get about 5 guys to hang off the back while the truck is running and see if the compressor kicks on and levels out the truck!

Also, do the rear shocks have an electrical harness hooked up to them from the truck? If so, try taking those off and spraying the connections with a bit of WD-40 and reconnect!!
