So my Advent OGM1 will be in later this week. Walt at adcmobile.com is an awesome guy and has supplied tons of videos etc. However, since this will be the first time I've ever installed or removed a head unit I thought I'd ask the brain trust for any tips.

Go!

There is tools that will make it so you do not mess up the trim. I believe I started in one of the lower corners and worked my way around.

It's a pretty easy install. Make sure you get a set of panel pullers I use the cheap $5-$8 set from Harbor Freight. It's soft plastic and you don't have to worry about scratching your dash or console. The entire install took me roughly 45 minutes and that was with some special splicing because I have the Bose center-point system and they weren't really designed for that, however for you it should be plug and play. My only major complaint is the data cable is a bit to short. I installed mine in the bottom of my console (i hate having wires showing anywhere) and I had very little wiggle room with it.

As Regency suggested starting from the top and working your way down seemed to work best for me also. I have plenty of pics in my photo album of my install if you want to take a look.

Thanks! I'm definitely going to go through your pics. I watched the install videos they provide last night and it looks pretty easy. I wished they included the backup camera to screen part but at least they have pics of it.

I'm so excited I might have to take Thursday off so I can put it in immediately!

Harbor Freight tools sells trim panel removers that are plastic and yellow and will not scratch the interior of the car. I use them at work all the time even on high end cars.
