My AT4 has been built and is in transit to the dealership. Looks like dealer screwed up the order and got a second row bench. Before I reject it, anyone have a bench and are glad they do?

Yes, love my second row bench. I have two young kids and it’s so much better to have a space between them to put their stuff while still being able to reach it. Their arms are too short to reach down out of a booster seat to what otherwise would be the floor between captains chairs.

Also a third seat in that row has come in handy a bunch but the biggest factor I love is not having a space for rear cargo to come up into the second row in the space blocked by the “middle seat” (uninterrupted bench).

Like above - for younger kids a bench is 100% the better way to go.

Every situation is different, we actually like the access to the back storage.

We've had both and currently have buckets with teenagers. the advantage of the buckets is the additional "storage" in between the seats, access to area behind the seats is easier...and although the side seat could be folded down on a bench, we've had items that needed the extra length for the space in between the seats (tall tripod).

we also very rarely have more than four in the vehicle...

I’d swap buckets for bench if you are interested. I need a bench. Love the buckets but need another seat.

I have the second row bench but need it for my big family. I have also owned a suburban with captains chairs. Easier to access the third row with captains chairs, and definitely more desired to have the captains chairs these days. I hope it doesn’t take too long to fix but I’d send it back.

You couldn't GIVE me a Suburban or Tahoe without the second row bench. You can hold an extra person that way, and when you fold all the seats down, you don't have a big hole in the cargo area.

We have a new, 2023 Yukon XL with bucket seats ... if you're looking for a bench we may be interested in a trade

2nd row bench is fantastic. Buckets were never even a consideration for us. Just a family of 4 but being able to toss stuff in the middle of the bench between the kids is great. Otherwise what you have to toss stuff on the floor?

Did you ever do the swap? I have At4 black buckets and will swap you for the bench?

I guess I'm in the minority for having rear captain chairs. I had no intention of getting a bench, seeing as I commute alone and don't have passengers (family) until the weekend. My girls love their independent space rather than being next to each other, so that was a big influence on me getting my two-seater configuration. Bad enough they're at each other's throats at home. Driving long distances next to each other is a disaster waiting to happen.

Not only that, but it's easier to access that third row seat and climb between the two captain's chairs rather than having to move the entire bench forward. I also don't get picked as the designated shuttle driver without that extra seating space.

We may both be in the minority, I also prefer the captain's chairs to the bench. I think it's what works best for you, I see a lot of the captains on inbound orders, see very few bench seats.

I had the opportunity to buy an XL version of my current AT4 with a rear bench seat when I was in the market a year ago, but I turned it down because I didn't want that bench under any circumstances (or an XL - sorry @Fast_AT4)... no offense to anyone.

Having a dog, a second row bench is optimal for me. He can stick his head out of either window, or just lie down and nap.
