i have a 96 gmc yukon that the ac compressor was not engaging when turning ac on.I went and got one of the new a/c pro cans to check and add charge to my system.I followed the directions to hook up on low side fitting between compressor and evaporator(is the evaporator the same thing as accumulator?),once i started adding 134a the compressor engaded and i took the system pressure up to the dirrected range on gage.the ac is cool but not cold as i was hoping,i also watched the gage as it ran awhile it it never dropped off pressure so i think the system is good.someone told me i may have to drain the system of condensate the evacuate and recharge,is this correct?if how do i do that?
Ive only had the vehicle for acouple months so im unsure if it blowing cold before.

unknown at this time.
go to an a/c shop if you don't have the equipment to do it yourself. tell them you want the system evacuated recharged and performance tested. should not cost a lot at all.

On my 95 Tahoe the ac problem was fixed by replacing a inline check valve/filter. It is located on one of the lines coming out of the condenser coil in front of radiator.
I would suggest replacing it if you drain system to recharge it. The part cost less than 2 bucks.
