4ad selector switch question

Are the leds suppose to light up without the headlights on, because I have to turn on my headlights during the day to see what its set to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@James C Bienvenue - only one light should light up at a time, and it should always be on when the ignition is on (lights on or off). Are you saying that it lights up only when the headlights are on?

Post up a pic of your switch.

EDIT: the dimmer should control the brightness of the switch lights.

@James C Bienvenue, my switch looks like this:

There should be backlighting on each button. So, for example, the "2 high" letters should always be illuminated, as should the other three modes, independent of the single amber or red mode indicator. Curious, though, when I looked at mine only the 4hi and 4lo backlights work. I'll have to pull mine to see if a bulb is out for the top two.

They are controlled by the dash dimmer pot; both the mode indicator and the letters should dim/brighten with the dash lights.

More info: I'm sure there are others out there with availability, but this link has kits (bulbs or LEDs) for all the lights in the switch.
